A Business Owner's Policy (BOP) is similar to a homeowner's policy in that it provides coverage for both property (building and/or contents) and liability. It is designed for small to medium sized business who represent a low risk to the carrier. Eligible businesses are barber shops, bookkeepers, churches, clothing retail, etc. Generally construction risks are not good candidates for a BOP. This doesn't mean, we can't write construction risks. On the contrary, construction risks are one of our specialties.
Typically a BOP includes the following types of coverages:
- Property insurance to cover a building, the contents, and any inventory.
- Liability insurance to protect against third party claims that might arise due to property damage or bodily injury from work done by you or your employees or from products you make.
- Crime insurance to cover losses from burglary, robbery, and/or employee theft.
- Business interruption to cover lost income and to provide payments for fixed economic liabilities (rent, phone, internet, etc.)
- Hired and non-owned automobile coverage for rented or borrowed vehicles.
